Handbook to Environmental Risks
Updated edition in 2008 One of the driving forces of our work lies in the help given to SMEs to permanently integrate environmental considerations into their activities. Involving them into collective projects is a way to fulfil this task. In this context risk management plays an important role. Every company is exposed to various risks. The increase of costly accidents underlines the necessity to professionally and efficiently manage the risks. Efficient risk management implies identifying the potential risks, assessing frequency and severity and implementing protective and preventive measures. In this context, in 2001, Orée and the French Organisation for Risk Management and Corporate Insurance (AMRAE) developed in cooperation with several stakeholders and experts the Handbook to Environmental Risks (see working group environmental risks). This handbook is already out of print but it is currently being updated regarding content and format. It is a tool to make company managers responsive to environmental risks and, at the same time, a practical guide for the internal evaluation of the company’s situation with the objective of realising a risk prevention plan. The handbook will be presented in the form of a multimedia presentation available on a web page.
