"EMAS easy" is a way to adapt EMAS to the size, financial capacity and organisational culture of small business.
It was developed to help SME's to process an environmental management system (EMS) and to obtain EMAS certification.
"EMAS easy" is based on Ecomapping, a tool to analyse and improve the environmental performance of a company, which has also been conceived by INEM. Additional features have been introduced to Ecomapping to be in conformance with requirements of ISO 14001 and EMAS without loosing the simplicity. It is fast to implement, lean and un-bureaucratic, easy to grasps and it cuts down costs of certification and external assistance.
Orée itself applies "EMAS easy" in the context of its internal environmental policy and, at the same time, we aim at coaching one or two small companies through this process.
Even if EMAS and ISO 14001 share the same objective, they are often seen as competitors. However, ISO 14001 can be a stepping-stone for EMAS certification. Generally, it remains the leading standard for environmental management at international level.
