Integration of Environmental Criteria into the Client-supplier Relationship
July 2005 Book, 96 pages The Client-supplier relationship involves several processes including purchasing. Today this purchasing process is not only strategic in financial and qualitative terms, but also for environmental reasons. In this context, Orée has developed with its members a handbook for purchasing managers and their suppliers. Within a sustainable development objective, this handbook proposes a practical approach to efficiently integrate environmental aspects into the Client-supplier relationship. This handbook focuses on Business-to-Business relationships, finding their expression in a commercial agreement. It develops concrete tools to increase knowledge and awareness on environmental issues and to implement new practices. Intended for purchasing managers and environmental officers, it aims at assisting companies to efficiently design and implement their own strategy in order to increase awareness on environmental questions as regards their relationship with suppliers and subcontractors. The handbook explains varied tools with the double purpose of education and practical application. Practical tools and additional information, in particular on regulations, which are available on the web site http://achats.oree.org complete the handbook. The handbook contains:
a kit to help purchasing managers be aware; a methodological approach to help integrate environmental criteria when dealing with the suppliers; a good practice guide analysing supporting and restraining factors; methodological aspects to implement these actions.
